Logisticon has built several large ultrafiltration (UF) installations - varying in capacity from 10 to 400 m3/h. Most of the times these installations are used as pre-treatment before a Reverse Osmosis (RO) installation. The source of water as feedwater for the UF varying in these projects from surfacewater, wastewater and even groundwater. Especially the reuse of wastewater is todays topic within many industries using process water. The use of ultrafiltration is a most common treatment to use (using over-pressure or even under-pressure (submerged / MBR type) membranes.

The use of mobile containerized UF can be found in the combination with use of mobile RO installations or as a final water quality for example cooling water (no suspended solids present). UF is also used as last barrier for production of drinking water where the UF permeate will be safe water to drink (no bacteria and viruses). For emergency purposes (calamities all over the world) mobile (containerized) ultrafiltration units are used. The following three mobile containerized UF systems have been made and used in different projects as described above.

New mobile containerized UF (2013) - capacity net 80 m3/h

The Logisticon rental fleet has several UF systems. The most recent built UF system is based on the use of INGE Dizzer membranes (multibore). The installation exist out of a 20ft container in combination with a separate permeate and backwash tank. The 3D picture below shows the complete UF system (Solid Works rendered file). The first client who is renting this unit is using the system for drinking water purposes (temporary safety measure for biological reasons).

Mobile containerized UF (50 m3/h) - reuse of wastewater

A large containerized UF system has been built for an industrial client for the application of reuse of waste water. The UF system is based on the use of Hydranautics Hydracap membranes. This container has an integrated permeate and CIP tank.

UF pilot (4,5 - 9 m3/h) - skidmounted and containerized

Almost all UF installations built by Logisticon are preceded by carrying out of a UF pilot trial. Ultrafiltration is a technique which should be piloted in order to determine the design (net) flux in combination with the cleaning regime. The design flux determines the membrane area needed and therefore the complete size of the UF system. Logisticon has therefore made several UF pilot for clients (including other OEMs) but also for own purposes. These pilots where constructed in such a way that the UF pilot could be placed within a container including also possible pretreatment (for example automatic pre-filter) and dosing systems (coagulant dosing).
